The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master World Geographic Watch

With a 24 time zone display on the dial, it is easy for the wearer to instantly tell the time in any city on Earth. The names of 24 cities, corresponding to the 24 time zones, are displayed just inside the bezel. Thus it is aptly named the “Master World.” In addition, the date (of your home time zone) is displayed at 3 o’clock and a second time zone is in the 6 o’clock subdial.

There is a also a power reserve indicator, which is especially helpful when traveling with a self-winding watch.

The watch features an automatic movement which is unidirectionally wound. Most automatic watches are wound in both directions, but Jeager’s engineers have concluded that unidirectional winding is more efficient.  It also has a crystal caseback, allowing you a great view of the movement.

Despite its myriad functions and efficiencies, even this extraordinary timepiece cannot actually put you in two places at once. But you may feel like the master of your own world when you wear it.

What Verdura created for Chanel is the stuff of legends: two unique yet complimentary cuffs in enamel over silver, using stones in a colorful array of sizes and shapes.  To this day, the Maltese Cross remains an important design element in both Verdura and Chanel’s collections.

As part of its 70th Anniversary collection, Verdura has created a limited edition of 70 pairs of cuffs that replicate the Chanel originals. The new versions are in enamel over 18K gold, and with modern technology the enamel is  applied at an incredible 1500 degrees Farenheit. All of the stones replicate the originals in size and shape, and their gem quality is even higher.

Coco may have broken up with her boyfriends, but a diamond (or emerald, or sapphire) is forever.

The look is signature Panerai. Yet with its engraved tachymeter on the bezel, light blue dial, and white luminous coating of both the subdials and all minute markers, its appearance is much more detailed than your classic “clean” Panerai model. One of the best features of the titanium Daylight Chrono is its light weight, despite its 44mm size.  Titanium is about 56% as dense as steel, and it comparable in its strength and resistance to corrosion.

The watch is also available on an alligator strap, which is also very handsome. The strap and bracelet can be interchanged with a tool that’s supplied with the watch.

The watch has an automatic movement, called the Panerai OP XII with a power reserve of 46 hours and a strong anti-shock device. All of which you’d expect from this brand that’s been producing the Luminor for more than 60 years.

The movement is a modification of the original Lange 1 movement. It’s a manual wind, with a power reserve display, moonphase and the signature Lange oversized date. The moonphase is accurate to one day in every 122 years. It also features a crystal caseback so that the artistry of the movement can be enjoyed.

High complications in women’s watches continue to be more scarce than in men’s models, it is nice to see that Lange is dedicated to offering its female customers the same high caliber as its men’s pieces. And Lange has managed all this in an exquisitely designed piece that will delight the woman lucky enough to wear it.

A Turk’s Head is a complex woven knot used in boating.  Turk’s Head bracelets made of cotton or nylon string  are iconic in the sailing/beach life of New England.

A.G.A. Correa is a jeweler based in Edgecomb, Maine with a decidedly seafaring flair. Correa offers the same iconic bracelet in the precious metals of platinum and gold in varying widths. It’s traditional to cut off your string Turk’s Head at the end of the summer, but these will last a lifetime.

IWC is a specialist in diving watches and this limited edition piece highlights the brand’s commitment to ecology and the preservation of nature.

The Galapagos Islands have amazing diving as well as above water adventures. More importantly, they are a closely monitored preserve for a multitude of endangered species of animals, many of which do not live anywhere else in the world.

Diving watches are an IWC specialty. The Aquatimer men’s chronograph watch is done in ruggedly functional black and white dial, very easy to read at a glance. The caseback is engraved with a picture of the giant tortoise that is one of the many species that are native to and only exist in the Galapagos Islands.

There is a model with a date aperture at six o’clock and another that’s a flyback chronograph with a second time zone sub dial. Both are automatic movement. Specs: Titanium with rubber strap, sapphire crystal case-back, power reserve on date model is 72 hours, chrono has 50 hours.

The Monaco V4

Well, work it does!!! After 5 years Tag Heuer has produced the watch in a limited edition of 150, celebrating its 150 years of watchmaking.
The watch has 5 tiny belts that drive the movement, and they are clearly visible from the skeleton dial of the watch.

Another outstanding feature is the linear mass (not a traditional rotating mass) that moves up and down with the wearer’s movements to wind the watch. The mass slides on tiny ball bearings measuring just 2.2 millimeters in diameter. Tag Heuer has obtained two worldwide patents on the Monaco V4, and deservedly so.
The case is the classic Monaco shape done in platinum.
